Pandemic: India registers 3.9 lakh new cases, 3876 deaths in 24 hours

New Delhi: The second wave of the pandemic continues to hit India, as the country recorded fresh 3,29,942 positive cases in the last 24 hours ending 8 am Tuesday. While 3,876 persons lost their lives to the virus, taking the death toll to over 2.49 lakh.

The country’s total infections stand at over 2.29 crore. Out of these, over 37.15 lakh cases are active while 1.90 crore people have recovered after testing positive. Active cases have declined for the first time in 2 months.

According to India Express the worrying sign is the rapid increase in deaths in smaller states like Jharkhand, Haryana, Chhattisgarh, Punjab and now Uttarakhand.

Maharashtra continues to report the maximum number of deaths every day.
