Jammu: Commissioner Secretary, Higher Education Department, Talat Parvez Rohella, released a book titled ‘Animal Physiology and Biochemistry’ at Civil Secretariat here today.
The book has been authored by Principal Government Degree College Chenani, Dr. Pragya Khanna and Assistant Professor, Department of Zoology, University of Jammu, Parvinder Kumar.
Director Colleges, MY Peerzada; Additional Secretary, Higher Education, Sanjeev Rana; Nodal Principal, Jammu Division, Ravinder Tickoo and other academicians and officers were present on the occasion.
Commissioner Secretary lauded the efforts of these faculty members for rising up to the occasion and coming up with this publication for the students and researchers. He said that a responsible teacher must always find ways to advance his/her subject pedagogically while responding to the legitimate concerns of students.
Talat added that for a student to be educated in a discipline, awareness of disciplinary communication is necessary and it is incumbent upon the teachers to find ways to connect with the students both in terms of breadth and depth of material and with regard to their ability to be critical customers of scientific information.
Director Colleges also commended the efforts of the authors saying that the discipline of physiology is an ever evolving one and requires constant updating and thorough research.
While speaking about the book, Dr Pragya emphasised that the volume though comprehensive offers a thorough, easy to understand introduction to the fundamental principles of Animal Physiology. It uses a comparative approach with a wide range of examples from across the animal kingdom.
