KU PG entrance examination begins; 25182 students vie for 4149 seats

Srinagar, Sept 10: The entrance examination for more than 48 PG programs offered by the University of Kashmir started here on Wednesday with the KU authorities holding the examination in two sessions i.e morning and afternoon for the convenience of thousands of the aspirants.
According to the statistics available the University has received more than 25182 entrance applications for admission to various post graduate courses for the year 2020 against a vacancy of 4149 seats.
The KU authorities including the entire administrative machinery, has been geared up to conduct the entrance examination which as per the notification issued by Directorate of admissions and Competitive Examination commenced from September 9 and shall culminate on September 27.
The KU has made elaborate arrangements and constituted several teaching departments as centres within the campus for conducting the examination.
Meanwhile, in view of COVID-19 and to avoid social gathering, the KU administration has also constituted exam centers in north and south Kashmir districts besides the main campus of the University.
For aspirants from South Kashmir examination centres have been constituted at Women’s College Anantnag and Government Degree College (GDC) Pampore, whereas exam centres have been constituted at GDC Kupwara and North Campus of KU at Delina for students of north Kashmir.
According to KU authorities these have been designated for convenience of the students so that they need not to travel to main campus to appear in the exam.
In central Kashmir one exam centre has been constituted at Bemina Degree College and the main campus of the University.
While taking stock of the elaborate arrangements made for ensuring smooth conduct of the examination Vice Chancellor KU Prof Talat Ahmad during a surprise visit to one of the examination centres at main campus interacted with the students and while wishing best of luck to all the PG aspirants Prof Talat said “We have made all the necessary arrangements for the smooth conduct of the examination and we will make sure that the aspirants do not face any difficulty.”
Prof Talat added “We request all candidates to reach the examination centres well in advance. It is in their own interest so as to avoid any unnecessary delay.”
The University has also advised the candidates to regularly visit university website for necessary information/instructions regarding Admissions – 2020 and entrance examination.
The varsity administration has also advised the candidates to disburse after examination is over and leave the centre immediately.
The programs for which the University has received more than 25182 applications include MSc Clinical Biochemistry, MA English, MSc Applied Geology, MA History, MA Linguistics, LLB (3 years), M.Sc. Microbiology, MA Arabic, M.Sc. Nano-technology MA Psychology, MSc Chemistry, M Ed, MSc Environmental Sciences, MSc Botany, MA/MSc Mathematics, MA Political Science, MSc Zoology, MA Anthropology, 5-Year BA-LL.B, MA Education, MA Sociology, MSc Food Technology, MSc Electronics, MA Kashmiri, M Sc Home Science, MSC IT, MSc Geo-Informatics, MA Persian, MA Islamic Studies, MTTM, MSc Biochemistry MA/MSc Disaster Management, MSc Bio-resources, MA/MSc Statistics, MA Mass Communication, MA/MSc Geography, MCA, MSc Physics, MLIS, MA Economics MA Urdu, MSW, MA Gender Studies, M. Com, M P Ed. MBA, MBA-FM and IMBA
