LG Authorizes DCs To Impose Penalties: Rs 500 Over Masks, Spitting At Public Places; Rs 3000 To Bus Owners

Srinagar, July 20: Lieutenant Governor, G C Murmu, on Monday authorized all deputy commissioners in J&K to impose penalties including Rs 500 on those who do not wear masks, spit at public places as well as the owners of auto rickshaws or two-wheelers who violate the social distancing norms.
In exercise of the powers conferred by section 2 of the Epidemic Diseases Act, 1897 (3 of 1897), the Lieutenant Governor also authorized all the DCs to impose Rs 2000 on persons violating the home quarantine instructions, persons violating social distancing norms by the owner of shops/commercial places and by cars. The DCs have been authorized to impose the highest Rs 3000 penalty for violating the social distancing norms by the owners of buses.
