Srinagar: Hurriyat Conference led by Mirwaiz Umar Farooq on Sunday said that under the garb of cordon-and-search-operation (CASO) 1990 like situation was being created to harass and intimidate people, especially in Kashmir Valley.
In s statement issued here, the Hurriyat Conference expressed serious concern over the growing “unabated human rights violations, bloodshed, state terrorism, and frequent harassment” of youth in the state.
“In the garb of CASO 1990 like situation is being created as youth are being targeted and killed and now new army camps are being created in many areas. Such operations are aimed at instilling fear among the people and putting people to tremendous hardships,” it said, condemning the CASO in almost 12 villages of Shopian and called for an end to harassment of people.
The Hurriyat Conference said such kind of operations deserve all forms of condemnation. “Time has come when the world community needs to take notice of the present volatile situation in the valley as people of the troubled state continue to yearn for the peaceful resolution of the issue to see end to their miseries,” the Hurriyat Conference said.
It also strongly condemned the mysterious killing of a college student Gowhar Ahmed of Nagbal Shopian.
“Every day youth of Kashmir are getting killed on one pretext or another,” the Hurriyat Conference said. it also condemned the killing of 50-year-old Muhammad Ishaq of Dialgam and termed it against the basic principles of humanity. Ishaq was a worker of ruling PDP.  “Every human life is priceless no matter to which political ideology a person belongs to.”
