Srinagar: Pulwama district, which was earlier declared COVID-free, reported a fresh case on Tuesday, taking the number of novel coronavirus cases in the southern Kashmir district to 4.
Official sources said an 18-year-old teenager with a history of travel to New Delhi tested positive for the disease. He had been moved quarantine on April 14 soon after his arrival, they said.
With him returning positive, other members of his family are being isolated and also those in the neighborhood he might have come in contact with after his arrival.
With the fresh case, Pulwama still remains the district in entire Valley with the least number of COVID-19 cases.
Bandipora with 127 COVID-19 patients tops all districts followed by Srinagar (86), Shopian (68), Baramulla (67), Kupwara (48), Anantnag (49), Jammu (26), Udhampur (20), Ganderbal (15), Budgam (14), Kulgam (6), Pulwama (4), Rajouri (4), Samba (4), Pulwama (3) while Kathua, Kishtwar, Ramban and Reasi districts.
Earlier, Pulwama district had three cases and all of them recovered and were discharged. With them, the district was declared covid-19 free. However, senior officials said that there was no need for worry as the individual had been already moved to the quarantine, and likelihood of him coming in contact with others was least.
