BASHARAT RASHID
Tral: Authorities in Tral area of South Kashmir’s Pulwama district on Monday conducted anti-encroachment drive and demolished various illegal structures here.
Various encroachments were demolished on roadsides at Tral town, Kandistan, Diver, Dobiwan and its adjacent areas.
The drive was held on the directions of Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) Tral, Shabir Ahmad Raina, and a team headed by Tehsildar Tral and AEE R&B supervising the demolition process.
On that occasion, ADC Tral appealed general public to extend cooperation to end menace of encroachments in the Tral sub district.
He said that such drives will remain continue till the area will be freed from all the encroachments.
However, a delegation of locals in Kandistan said that they were not informed by the authorities before demolition drive.
“We were not informed by the authorities as no prior notice was issued to us. Had authorities issued notice to us, we would have cleared the land,” a local said.
Meanwhile, an official said that locals were informed many times in last two years but they failed to remove the encroachments.
