Anantnag’s Iqbal to play for India in Physical Disability Cricket series in England

Anantnag: Twenty-five-year-old Wasim Iqbal Khan from Gopalpora Khurd area of Anantnag will be playing for India’s physical disability cricket team, for world series scheduled in England this year.

On May 6 1998,  Iqbal a primary school student suffered a fracture in right leg while playing.

 

Iqbal was formally informed by the cricket board in Mumbai.

For two months he will have to shift to Punjab were they will be provided training and coaching for the upcoming matches.

“In August I assume we will leave for England for matches,” he said.

Long medical procedures, surgeries became a routine for him but to that event Iqbal could fully recover in one of his legs.

“I never stopped to play or to let the unfortunate event be my impediment in any way,” Iqbal said.

Iqbal did his Diploma in Electric Engineering and is a first year student at Anantnag degree College.

“Sachin Tendulkar, MS Dhoni and Virat Kohli have inspired me and credits to Parvaiz Rasool who guided me,” he said.
