Srinagar: A Para Commando of army was killed, reportedly in an accidental fire in Central Kashmir’s Ganderbal district, officials said on Sunday.

A police officer said that the Commando Taran Kumar of 31 Para who was attached with army’s 3rd sector headquarters in Mansbal area of the district was injured critically after hit by a bullet while cleaning his service rifle inside the camp on Saturday.

Kumar, a resident of Kathua district of Jammu region, was immediately taken to nearby army’s health facility from where he was referred to army’s 92 base hospital at Badamibagh Srinagar. He succumbed later, the officer said.

Police has taken cognizance of the incident and initiated further investigations in this regard, the officer added.
