Verinag encounter: One militant killed, operation ongoing

Anantnag: A militant has been killed in the ongoing anti militancy operation in Nowgam area of Verinag in Anantnag district.

According to sources the body of the slain militant has been recovered.

“He is a local affiliate of Jaish e Mohammed outfit, namely Mohammad Iqbal from Nowpora area of Dooru in Anantnag district, ” sources said.

He said that Iqbal was killed in initial exchange of fire between militants and forces in the area. 

The operation is ongoing in the area as forces believe there might be more militants hiding in the area.
