Srinagar: The government forces have called off search operation at Pinjoora Shopian where one civilian was killed and several others were injured during clashes last evening.
Sources said that there was no militant found, dead or alive, even as officials had claimed to have killed one of them.
As soon as government forces started cordon and search operation last evening, scores of youth took to streets and clashed with the government forces. The later resorted to teargas shelling, pellets and live ammunition to disperse the protesters, they said. A civilian Sajad Ahmad Parray son of Ali Mohammad Parray of Buderhama was critically injured and taken to district hospital Shopian. However he was declared brought dead on arrival by the doctors who attend upon him. Some of the seriously injured personnel were shifted to Srinagar hospitals for advanced treatment. They said that some government forces personnel were also injured.
