Srinagar: Hurriyat Conference (G) chairman, Syed Ali Geelani on Monday said that India is using Rape as a war strategy in Kashmir while calling for  for a complete shutdown in Shopian district and its peripheral areas to commemorate the alleged ‘rape and murder of Aasiya and Neelofer’ in May 2009.

“The rape and murder of the duo sisters was committed in the broad-daylight, ‘but culprits are still at large, which speaks volumes about the Indian designs to use rape of women as a war strategy,” Geelani said.

Geelani said that Jammu and Kashmir being a ‘heavily deployed military occupied zone in the world, has become most vulnerable place to protect life, honour and especially the chastity of women folk.’

The statement issued here said that Geelani expresses dismay on the dubious and malicious role played by the law enforcement agencies and legal authorities with regard to making vain efforts to trample down the eyewitnesses and other credentials of this case.

He demanded probe into the case by United Nations Human Rights Commission.
