Jammu: Police on Friday said that they have cracked the murder case of a shepherd from Anantnag district whose dumped body was found in March Gali forests on May 15.

Police said that on 15th of May, 2019 a reliable information was received at Police Station Chanderkote that one nomad (Bakerwal) namely Mohd Rashid @ Nika S/o Kalu Bakerwal R/o Alasdhar Anantnag who was staying at Marh Gali Sawani along with his family for grazing of sheeps and goats, has been murdered by some unknown person at Marh Gali forest and dead body dumped in the forest area.

On this information, case FIR No 32/19 U/s 302 RPC got registered at PS Chanderkote and Police party immediately rushed to the spot and started search of the area. After hectic efforts, the dead body was recovered from the forest area which was shifted to District Hospital Ramban for post mortem.

During preliminary investigation, wife of the deceased namely Razia Begum @ Guggi was put to sustained interrogation who confessed to have committed the crime by poisoning her husband. Further investigation is in progress and role of other persons in the crime is being investigated.

SHO P/S Chanderkote Insp Abid Hussain Bhukhari under the close supervision of Sh Sanjay Parihar Addl SP Ramban and overall supervision of Ms Anita Sharma SSP Ramban, solved the murder mystery within the shortest possible time period and arrested the main accused.
