J&K High Court takes suo-moto cognizance of Sumbal rape case, directs IG Kashmir to file report by Friday

Srinagar: Chief Justice of Jammu and Kashmir High Court on Wednesday took suo moto cognisance of the alleged rape case of a minor girl in Sumbal area of Bandipora.

The Chief Justice Gitta Mittal also directed IGP Kashmir to submit a status report by Friday.

A three-year-old girl was allegedly raped in Sumbal area of north Kashmir’s Bandipora district on May 08. The accused has been arrested by the police.

The incident has sparked outrage in Kashmir with people demanding speedy probe into the case.
