Pulwama: Fear has gripped Satoora village of Aripal tehsil in Pulwama district after a leopard killed and injured livestock of farmers for two days on row.
“Leopard appeared in Bokhdan Check village of Aripal’s Satoora, attacked cowsheds and kill some cattle there. Many are injured,” locals told INS.
They alleged that the wild animal was ‘set free by wildlife department after capturing from some other area.’
The owners, whose livestock has been killed or maimed, include of Abdul Rashid Chopan and Abdul Aziz Dar.
Fearing more attacks and threat to human life as well villagers are urging authorities to intervene.
Meanwhile, Imtiyaz Ahmad, Range Officer Wildlife, Aripal range, told INS that they have placed a cage and are trying their best to capture the leopard.
He however refuted the local claims that leopard was freed by the wildlife department in the village following his catch.
