Govt bars all departments, PSUs from issuing advertisements directly to media

Srinagar: The government has asked all departments, public sector undertakings and autonomous bodies not to issue any advertisements directly to the print and electronic media and same shall be routed through Information Department.
The Government had underlined that the instructions vide a circular (No. 33-GAD of 2018) on 7 August last year with regard to routing of Government Advertisements though Directorate of Information are not being adhered to in letter and spirit.
“It is once again reiterated that no Government Department/Public Sector Undertakings/Autonomous Bodies under the Government shall, issue any official advertisement, under any circumstances, directly to the print and electronic media,” reads an order issued by the government. “All the advertisements must be routed through the Directorate of Information,” it said, underlining that any violation in this regard will be viewed seriously and appropriate action under rules initiated against the delinquent officer(s)/official(s). “The Information Department shall closely monitor the matter and report violations, if any, of the above instructions to the General Administration Department on a fortnightly basis,” the order added.
