Srinagar: As Prime Minister Narendera Prime Minister Narendra Modi continues to targeted Peoples Democratic Party among “handful of families” in J&K, former chief minister and PDP chief Mehbooba Mufti termed the BJP leader’s interviews to most of the news channels as “well planned PR exercises.”
“For obvious reasons, news channels are suddenly being obliged with interviews of the PM. Most seem like well planned PR exercises. The real baptism by fire would be giving one to NDTV or an online portal like @thewire_in,” Mehbooba tweeted.
In one of the recent interviews Modi described the BJP’s alliance with the PDP, now broken, as a “maha-milavat” (adulteration) of divergent ideologies.
“We have an understanding of Jammu and Kashmir and we did not require the experience of being in government for five years as I have worked there in the organisation and I used to go to all parts of the state,” Modi said
He further said: “Only Atalji’s formula can work — Insaniyat, Kashmiriyat, Jamoohriyat has to work.
Slamming a few political families in the state, the Prime Minister said: “A small section of families has found the way to blackmail the people of Jammu and Kashmir. When Mufti Mohammed Saeed Saheb was there, we were hopeful.
“We expected Mufti Sahab would help us come out of it. But that turned out to be a maha-milavat [adulteration]. It was like a mixture of oil and water. Still we went for it but acknowledged that both of us are poles apart. There was no other option than to follow the people’s verdict. So we went along. Then we left it for the sake of democracy.”
The Prime Minister challenged the mainstream regional parties of Jammu and Kashmir to stick to one stand in Srinagar and in Delhi.
“The double-speak of the handful of families, who speak one thing in Kashmir and the other in Delhi, has to be exposed. And that is what I am doing,” he said, and continued, “Theirs is a double-speak. They should have the courage to say the same thing in Kashmir as well as in Delhi and vice versa. But they are not. They speak two languages and are getting exposed.”
