Srinagar: Amid rains in most parts of Kashmir, the night temperature hovered above normal in most of the places in Valley, weatherman said on Sunday.
An official of the local meteorological department official said that Srinagar recorded a minimum temperature of 10.6 degrees Celsius last night against 7.6 degrees Celsius normal for this time of the season. The summer capital of Jammu and Kashmir received 5.4mm of rain in last 24 hours till 0830 hours this morning, he said. Qazigund, the gateway town of Kashmir, recorded minimum of 11.0 degrees Celsius and had 2.4mm of rainfall during the time while the mercury in Kokernag town in south Kashmir settled at a low of 9.4 degrees Celsius and had 1.3mm of rain, the official said. Kupwara town in north Kashmir registered a minimum of 5.4 degrees Celsius, the only place having less than the normal temperature, and it had rainfall of 19.0mm, highest in entire Valley. Gulmarg, the famous ski-resort in north Kashmir, witnessed a low of 3.1 degrees Celsius against 1.5 degrees Celsius for this time of the year and had rainfall of 9.4mm while the famous health resort of Pahalgam recorded a minimum of 4.0 degrees Celsius against normal of 2.8 degrees Celsius and had rainfall of 1.8mm during the 24-hours, the weatherman added.
