Shopian: Exchange of gunfire erupted between militants and government forces in orchards of Padguchi area of Imam Sahib in South Kashmir Shopian district on Saturday.
According to sources the exchange of gunfire was brief however the area remains under tight cordon and area is being sanitized.
Initial reports suggested that two militants have been killed in the shootout, however there was no official confirmation of deaths so far.
The operation was conducted by a joint of army’s 44RR and SOG, and sources claimed that they had ‘received credible inputs of militants hiding in the orchards’.
Search operation in the area were going on when last reports came in.
