Seminar on contribution of Sufis, Saints to composite culture of Kashmir begins at KU

Srinagar: Two day national seminar on “Contribution of Sufis and Saints to Composite Culture of Kashmir” began here at Kashmir University. The event is organized by Centre of Central Asian Studies (CCAS) Kashmir University in collaboration with Indian Council of Philosophical Research, New Delhi and was held in in the conference hall of the centre.
Scholars, students, faculty members and delegates drawn from various parts of the country attended the inaugural function of the seminar.
Dean Academic Affairs Prof Musadiq Amin Sahaf presided over the occasion. In his presidential address Prof Sahaf highlighted the contributions of Sufis and saints to composite culture of Kashmir.
Former Dean Academic Affairs Prof Muhammad Ashraf Wani who was the guest of honour on the occasion in his key note address gave some of the valuable insights regarding the impact of various religions and cultures in the propagation of Sufism and the impact it had on the composite culture of Kashmir.
Registrar University of Kashmir Dr Nisar A. Mir was the guest of honour on the occasion.
Director CCAS Prof G.N. Khaki formally welcomed the guests.
Seminar Co-ordinator, CCAS Dr Wahid Nasaru in his introductory address introduced the theme of the seminar.
Assistant Professor CCAS Dr Mumtaz A. Yatoo presented vote of thanks while Dr Fayaz A Lone conducted the conference proceedings.
