Shopian: Two militants have been killed in ongoing gunfight at Ratnipora village of south Kashmir’s Shopian district on Friday.

Official sources told said two militant have been killed and “operation” was in progress. “One dead body is visible on the ground, another militant was Injured, and he entered house which was blasted,” official sources said. Srinagar based Defence Spokesman said that one militant has been killed.

Earlier, the joint team of 34 Army, CRPF and J&K police’s SOG launched the CASO in Rantnipora Village after receiving specific input about presence of militants in the area.

There was initial exchange of fire taken at 3:00 a.m., they said, adding, thereafter there was lull during which reinforcement of forces were rushed to the area and cordon tightened.

However, sources said, after hours of searches, “a fresh contact was established leading to the gunfight.
