Kupwara: The residents of Shukoor Mohallah Tekipora of Lolab are irked over non availability of basic facilities in the area and accuse government of callous attitude towards ‘people’s plight’.
“There is no proper electrification, water supply, drainage, macadamized road,” locals alleged.
The villagers said that despite DC and CMO Kupwara being timely informed several times there has been no action to mitigate their problems.
“Even this NTPHC is without an ambulance,” they said.
The village, they say, has been neglected by all the departments including Power department and Rural Development department as well.
“Wooden planks are being used as electric poles since three decades,” they said.
The villagers rued that since they live in the remote part of the valley ‘they are subjected to extreme depravity’.
‘Before the government puts out tall claims on development or rural development schemes being successful, they should visit the rural areas,” they said, adding that ‘if the governor led administration is serious’ it should stop ‘believing on paper work presented to him’.
“Things on paper are a hoax. Nothing has been provided to rural population of the valley. We are an example of it,” they rued.
They appealed Governor Satya Pal Malik to look into the matter as to what has happened to money granted against various schemes for them.
“We believe more than 17 lakhs have been embezzled in our name,” they alleged.
