Eye witnesses said that scores of Hurriyat activists rallied and marched towards city center where large number of forces have been deployed to stop any protests.

Raising pro freedom and anti India slogan the activists were holding banners depicting pictures of JKLF founder Maqbool Bhat.

The protest was being held as Joint Resistance Leadership had called for shutdown to mark Bhat’s 35th hanging anniversary.

Police bundled scores of activists and detained them including female pro freedom activists.
