Various Srinagar areas including Basant Bagh, Barabar Shah, entire Habba Kadal, Chattabal and areas witnessed no electricity from this morning.

The locals said that the authorities seem to have ignored them by failing to ensure adequate electricity in the harsh winters. “We appeal the concerned authorities to restore the electricity in their areas as soon as possible,” the locals said.

Meanwhile, an official from Srinagar Municipal Corporation (SMC) said that snow clearance work is being executed since this morning while as the major roads including Lal Chowk have been cleared.

“We have pressed men and machinery to clear the snow on roads. The snowfall is currently going on and it would take some more time to clear the roads in entire Srinagar areas,” he said, adding that helpline numbers have already been established by the corporation.
