‘No fresh traffic on Highway tomorrow, stranded advised not to travel unless 1-2.5 feet snow cleared from Ramban to Qazigund’

Srinagar: Srinagar-Jammu highway shall remained closed for fresh traffic tomorrow even as traffic department also advised the stranded passengers on the thoroughfare advised not to travel between Ramban to Qazigund unless road was cleared of 1- 2.5 feet snow.
“Highway have witnessed fresh snow 1′- 2.5′ feet at Banihal – Qazigund stretch due to which the road has been blocked,” a traffic department official said.
Further, the official said, the rainfall in Banihal- Ramban stretch has also lead to landslide and shooting stones at many places like Anokhi fall, Kela Mode, Panthal etc.
“In view of the inclement weather as well as present road conditions, the stranded passengers are advised not to travel on highway especially between Ramban to Qazigund. The stranded vehicles would be allowed to proceed towards their destinations once the road is cleared,” the official said, adding, “
In view of the rain and snow in plains and other towns of the state, due to which the roads have become slippery, the general public is also advised take necessary precautions so as to avoid accidents and unnecessary road congestions.”
People are further advised to start their journey on highway only after confirming status of the road from phone Nos: Jammu (0191-2459048, 9419147732); Ramban (9419993745) and Srinagar (0194-2450022, 2485396, 18001807091).
