Police charge sheets 4 persons, 7 months after arresting them with grenades in Sopore

Srinagar: The police on Thursday filed charge sheet against four accused persons under Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act, more than seven months after recovery of grenades and ammunition were claimed from their possession by the cops in Sopore in northern Baramulla district.
The charge sheet was iled before before the Chief Judicial Magistrate Sopore against Mohammad Ayoub Malla son of Ghulam Hassan Malla of Malmapampora, Fayaz Ahmad War son of Ghulam Mohi-ud-din War of Warpora, Javid Ahmad War son of Abdul Rehman War of Warpora and Maqsood Ahmad War son of Mohammad Yousf War of Dachanpora Rafiabad, a police spokesman said.
“It is apt to mention here that all the four accused persons were arrested on 26 June 2018 during a Naka checking at Fruitmandi Crossing Sopore by Sopore Police, 22-RR & CRPF. Some incriminating material including grenades and ammunition were recovered from their possession. On this, a case FIR No. 174/2018 under relevant sections of law was registered in Police Station Sopore.”
During the course of investigation, police said, evidence both circumstantial and documentary were collected to substantiate the offence of the case and after “tireless efforts”, the investigation of the case was closed as challaned.
Thereafter the Govt. sanction to produce the charge sheet before the Court was acquired from the Home Department on 2 January this year and after completing all Departmental and procedural formalities, the charge sheet of the case was produced before Chief Judicial Magistrate Sopore against these four accused persons.
