Police busts gang of dacoits, recovers gold, cash worth Rs 28.8 Lakhs

Srinagar: Police on Monday claimed to have busted a gang of dacoits and recovered property and cash worth over RS 28 lakhs in Srinagar.
A police spokesman said Police Station Nowgam received a complaint from one individual namely Abdul Rashid Zargar of Ichgam Budgam, stating that he is a whole-sale dealer of jewellery and after attending his business activities at Pulwama on 27 June 2018 he was travelling back to his home via Nowgam in his Wagon R vehicle (No. DL9CY-6338).
Zargar was carrying gold worth several lakhs and cash of Rs 5,50000 with him. While he reached near Suthsoo Kalan at around 1930 hours, some unknown pheran wearing persons having beard masquerading themselves as militants intercepted the vehicle of applicant and asked him to drop them at some safe place as Army is in their search. However, on refusal by Zargar these unknown persons forcefully made their entry in the vehicle and took him along with vehicle to some isolated place near Khanda, where these persons after conducting personal search of Zargar took away the vehicle along with cash and gold as well as mobile phones, the spokesman said.
On this complaint, the spokesman said, a case FIR No. 62/2018 under relevant sections of law was registered in Police Station Nowgam and investigation started.
“During the course of investigation, investigating team after analysing the case from all aspects succeeded in arresting one suspect namely Mushtaq Ahmad Pandith alias Teja son of Mohammad Sultan of Kakapora Pulwama, who during questioning made vital disclosures regarding the dacoity and one lakh cash was recovered from him.”
He also made disclosures regarding the other accused in the crime and accordingly police arrested four more accused namely Manzoor Ahmad Mir son of Gh Rasool resident of Badibag Pulwama (from whose possession police recovered gold worth 12 lakhs and Rs 95,000 Cash), Javaid Ahmad Ganie son of Rehman resident of Mohnij Pulwama ( from whose possession police recovered Rs 88,000 Cash),
Amir Manzoor Malik son of Manzoor Ahmad of Chatpora Pulwama (from whose possession police recovered Rs 2 lakh cash) and Zahoor Ahmad Zargar alias Beta son of Assadullah resident of New Colony Pulwama ( from whose possession police recovered gold worth Rs ten lakhs).
Police also recovered one WagonR vehicle & mobile Phone (Value worth 5,000). Overall value of recovered property & cash is nearly Rs 28,88000.
