Srinagar: Authorities on Tuesday said that H1N1 has claimed seven lives so far since September last year at SKIMS while six patients who have detected positive are admitted at twin hospitals of Srinagar including one of them in critical condition.
Medical Superintendent (MS) SKIMS, Dr Farooq Jan told INS that seven deaths occured due to H1N1 influenza at SKIMS since September last year while three more patients are still admitted in the institute.
He added that all the three patients ‘were doing fine’. Dr Jan further added that 120 patients were tested positive on OPD basis since September last year, while 39 among them were later admitted.
Dr Jan added that at present only three patients are admitted in the institute while seven deaths have occurred due to this influenza.
He further said that the institute has adequate equipments available to tackle the influenza.
Moreover, one among the three patients who were tested positive for H1N1 infection at Shri Maharaja Hari Singh (SMHS) hospital is critical, Medical Superintendent (MS) SMHS, Dr Saleem Tak told INS.
He added that three persons were tested positive for H1N1 influenza at SMHS, adding that one among them is critical while the two others are ‘doing fine’.
“We have sufficient equipments and other related things available at the hospital,” he said, adding that all the necessary equipments and medication has been made available through World Health Organization (WHO).
Dr Tak further divulged that such cases are the outcome of cold. He said the department especially the hospital is fully prepared to tackle the situation, adding that there is no need to panic.
He adding that an isolation ward has been set up in the hospital for those patients who are tested positive.
