SRINAGAR: Sh. Jojneswar Sharma, Director General, Defence Estates (DGDE), called on Governor N.N. Vohra at the Raj Bhavan.
Sh. Sharma briefed the Governor about certain issues relating to the acquisition of lands, resettlement and rehabilitation of displaced persons and hiring and requisitioning of lands and buildings by the DGDE.
Governor stressed the vital importance of establishing a system for the efficient management of Defence lands which ensures its optimum utilization and a dynamic approach for unwanted pockets of such lands being returned to the State. In this context, Governor referred to several very long pending cases, and particularly recalled the negative consequences being suffered on account of the Defence land in Jammu not having been returned to the University of Jammu for the past more than a decade.
