Farooq meets Piyush Goyal, seeks resumption of DMUs on Jammu-Udhampur railway stretch

Jammu : National Conference President Dr Farooq Abdullah on Wednesday met the Minister for Railways, GoI, Piyush Goyal and sought resumption of Jammu Tawi- Udhampur Diesel Multiple Units (DMUs) on immediate basis.
Farooq met the Union Minister in New Delhi and expressed serious concern over discontinuation of the two DMUs on Jammu-Udhampur section, according to a statement by National Conference.
He said commuters are put to lot of hardships and the issue ought to have invited the attention of the Northern Railways keeping in view of huge dependence on the commuters on this important service.
He hoped that the issue would be sorted out on priority for the larger interest of travelling public.
The Railway Minister assured that he will look into the issue on priority and have it examined and sorted out on priority, the statement said.
The 53 kilometer Jammu-Udhampur railways stretch has almost emerged as life line for the commuters, especially the government employees besides enroute passengers mostly in Nagrota constituency who travel on the route on daily basis.
