Rain or snowfall likely on Monday as night temperatures rise in Kashmir

Srinagar: Amid possibility of light to moderate rain or snowfall in next few days especially on Monday and Tuesday, the night temperature increased slightly even as they hovered below sub-zero level across the Kashmir Valley.
“There is possibility of light rain at isolated places in next 24 hours as the present (weather) system is not so strong but we can see it getting stronger subsequently and there is possibility of light to moderate rain or snowfall especially on Monday and Tuesday,” a meteorological department official told INS.
With overnight cloud cover, the official said, Srinagar recorded a minimum temperature of minus 1.2 degrees Celsius against yesterday’s minus 4.0 degrees Celsius which was the season’s coldest night so far in the summer capital of Jammu and Kashmir.
The official said the mercury in Qazigund and Kokernag towns in south Kashmir settled at a low of minus 1.6 degrees Celsius and minus 0.9 degrees Celsius respectively.
The famous health resort of Pahalgam in south Kashmir registered a minimum of minus 3.7 degrees Celsius while Kupwara in north Kashmir registered a low of minus 1.9 degrees Celsius, he said.
Gulmarg, the famous ski-resort in north Kashmir recorded a low of minus 6.0 degrees Celsius and was the coldest place in the Valley, the official added.
