Pulwama : A complete shutdown is being observed on second consecutive day Friday in Awantipora tehsil of south Kashmir’s Pulwama district against the killing of two hizb militants in pre-dawn hours of Thursday.
All the shops, business establishments, government and private offices are closed while public transport is off the roads in the area.
Earlier, two hizb militants including a commander, identified as Aadil Hizbi and Adnan Bhai, who were said to be the close associates of divisional commander Riyaz Naikoo, were killed during a gunfight with government forces in Shaar Shaali village of Khrew in Pampore.
Thousands of people participated in their funeral prayers on Thursday amid pro-freedom and anti-indian slogans.
Meanwhile, people continued to visit the house of slain militants to pay homage and offer condolences with bereaved families.
Meanwhile, Islamic University of Science and Technology (IUST), Awantipora have postponed all its exams scheduled to be held today.Besides that, class work is also suspended there.
