Srinagar: Hurriyat Conference led by Mirwaiz Umar Farooq on Tuesday strongly condemned the killing of resistance leader and the Tehreek-e-Hurriyat district president for Anantnag Mir Hafizullah by unidentified gunmen.
In a statement, a spokesman of the amalgam said that the leader had in advance brought to fore through media repeated threats and intimidations given to him on phone and suspicious movement of unknown people around his house soon after his release from prison after two years last month.
The spokesman said that in past also many resistance leaders were killed by the “anti-movement elements. But their aim at intimidating leadership or to force them to give up on their principles and ideology failed and will never succeed.”
“These elements will face nothing but defeat as they can’t stop the momentum of the peoples ongoing struggle on all fronts.”
The spokesman said that the slain resistance leader deserves tribute for his steadfastness and commitment towards the movement having spent years in prison and facing immense difficulties. “He continued to be as a true solider of the Kashmir movement till his last breath.”
The spokesman also strongly condemned the arrest of JKLF chief Muhammad Yasin Malik and termed his arrest as highly undemocratic and arbitrary and against principles of humanity. He said by arresting Malik those claiming to hold so called elections in the name of democracy stand completely exposed.
The spokesman also paid glowing tributes to four armed youth killed in Nadigam area of Shopian including Inamul Haq, Abid Nazir, Mehrajduin and Basharat Ahmed and stated that “their sacrifices will not go in vain.”
The amalgam also strongly denounced the use of bullets and pellets on protesters at Nadigam, Shopian “where more than 20 youth including three young girls sustained grave bullet injuries.”
The spokesman termed the use of force as barbaric, stating that government forces enjoy full impunity they feel proud while using live bullets and pellets on unarmed protesters and urged the world community to rise to the occasion and take strong note of the ever rising graph of human rights violations in Kashmir.
