Srinagar: Chairman legislative council, Haji Inayat Ali Tuesday urged Governor Jammu and Kashmir to personnely monitor the situation at Zojilla pass connecting Srinagar to the ladakh division of the state.
Ali told INS that the Srinagar-Leh road has been ‘forgotten by the administration and the stretch lacks all the facilities to help people’.
“There are no facilities for the people moving through the road and if they get stranded they have no where to look upon,” Ali said.
He further added that recently a body of a passenger was retrieved after so many days only because the authorities are not taking ‘pains to look after the stretch’.
“I urge upon the governor Jammu and Kashmir Satya pal malik to gear up his team so that the stretch remains in good condition and is motorable. They should also create facilities for the passengers if they get stranded or otherwise,” Ali said.
He urged Malik to ‘take stock of situation at Zojilla personally and ask various agencies involved stay alert’.
“The authorities, district and police should remain vigilant round the clock so that the people passing through the high alititude road don’t feel helpless,” he added.
