In a statement issued here this afternoon, a spokesperson of Jama’at said: “In the universities and colleges outside Jammu and Kashmir, scores of students have been so far arrested by different Indian agencies on false and frivolous grounds, besides, the pre-planned attacks on them by the communalist elements forcing a good number of Kashmiri students to give up their studies in between.”

He said that despite assurances by the university and other authorities, there is no sign of any relief to for the students.

During the previous night, he said, these “unruly forces” have picked up two innocent students Suhail Ahmad and Mohammad Ismael from their rented accommodation in Nowgam without informing the Central University authority where the both are studying in the Department of Political Science.

“These arrests seem to be a part of well-designed plan to deter the youth of Kashmir from continuing their higher studies and to push them towards extremism. Their families have neither been informed of their arrest nor the grounds thereof which is a blatant violation of the human rights happening unfortunately only in the valley.”

He said these “unbridled” forces have let loose a “reign of terror” throughout the valley and made the life of a common man a virtual hell.
