Officials said that a Naka (check point) was laid by army’s 7 Sector at Sagipora today late evening.

In the meantime, a car was signaled to stop but the militants traveling in it fired upon forces, the officials said, adding that the fire was retaliated resulting into the killing of the militant.

The official said that the body of the militant has been recovered along with arms and ammunition.

Sources identified the slain militant as Naseer Teli, a resident of Sopore who had recently joined militant ranks.

Meanwhile, the officer said that the area has been cordoned off along with the additional reinforcements of police and 92 battalion CRPF to nab other militants who fled in the vehicle.

In wake of the killing, authorities decided to impose restrictions in parts of Sopore on Friday.
