Srinagar: Two militants of Jash-e-Mohammad militant outfit were killed at Chankitar area of Tral in south Kashmir’s Pulwama district, police said.
“So far two bodies of the (militants) have been recovered. They are affiliated with JeM outfit. The identities of the killed militants are being ascertained,” a police official said, adding, “Searches are still going on in the area.”
The official requested the citizens not to venture inside the encounter zone since such an area can prove dangerous due to stray explosive materials. People are requested to cooperate with police till the area is completely sanitized and cleared of all the explosives materials if any.”
Earlier Army’s Rashtriya Rifles, the Special Operations Group of the police and the Central Reserve Police Force launched cordon and search operation in the village after getting information about the presence of militants there. Soon an encounter followed which continued during which the house in which the militants were hiding was razed to rubble.
