Srinagar: Indian leaders and their Army Generals “arrogant and unrealistic statements add fuel to the fire,” Hurriyat Conference (G) chairman, Syed Ali Geelani said on Sunday as he strongly condemned the “excessive force and crackdown” against civilian population in south Kashmir’s especially Shopian, Kulgam and Pulwama district.
The octogenarian leader expressed deep concern over increasing use of “repressive measures” by government forces against civilian populace and continued detention of pro-freedom leaders and activists.
Hurriyat Conference Chairman while referring to Indian agencies and policy makers said that they have waged a war against civilians and in his appeal to youth, asked them to maintain discipline and order during resistance against “state sponsored terrorism.”
In a statement issued here, Geelani urged them to remain cautious and show wisdom. “It is of grave concern that police and forces through brutal actions are annoying youth to push them to wall,” said pro-freedom leader.
He denounced the use of brute forces against the populace of South Kashmir and strongly condemned the brazen act of “state terrorism”.
“The forces are laying siege in villages and during crackdown people are thrashed and properties ransacked. Even people are showered with bullets and pellets during their resentment against this barbarism,” he said.
The Pro-freedom leader said that India has made a Kashmir as a battle field and to accomplish the volatile situation in Kashmir, Indian leaders and their Army Generals “arrogant and unrealistic statements add fuel to the fire.”
“They subject people to the worst kind of punishment for demanding their right, right to self-determination, as promised and agreed by their leadership in presence of the world community.”
Syed Ali Geelani said that India should accept defeat as they have lost their credibility and legitimacy and added that authorities through excessive force and military might are continuing forced occupation. No accountability exists on ground as forces have been vested with unbridled powers to harass people, said he.
Hurriyat Chairman said that the Indian response, unsurprisingly, has been denial and plain lies, and given that, “we hope the United nations and the world community wakes up to the fact that more pressure is needed to be brought to bear on India in order to end an inhuman and brutal occupation.”
“The sufferings of the people of Kashmir must be ended and the right to self-determination, according to extant UN resolutions, must be exercised.”
