Srinagar: Government on Wednesday ordered closure of schools and colleges in Kashmir’s capital city Srinagar after two militants were killed in a gunfight with government forces in Nowgam area on the city outskirts.

“The decision has been taken as a precautionary measure to avoid law and order situation in the district,” officials said.

Kashmir University and Central University of Kashmir has also ordered suspension of class work in view of the militant killings. Two militants were killed in an encounter with government forces in Nowgam area on Srinagar outskirts.
