Govt invites nominations for State Awards-2019

Srinagar: The Government has invited nominations for the grant of State Awards, for the year2019, on theeve of Republic Day.
According to a notification issued by the General Administration Department (GAD), the nominations/recommendations of eligible persons/ organizations, along with citation(s), brief bio-data and supporting documents should be sent to GAD by or before 30th November 2018.
The relevant Government orders/policy on the subject is available on the official website of the General Administration Department (www.jkgad.nic.in), it said.
Pertinently, the State Awards are conferred every year on the eve of Republic Day in different categories including Award for Bravery, Award for Achievements in the field of Literature, Awards for Performing Arts, Award for Excellence in Arts and Crafts, Award for Social Reforms and Empowerment, Award for Meritorious Public Service (two awards to be reserved for Non-Gazetted officials), Award for Lifetime Achievements in any other field, Award for Outstanding Sportspersons, Award for outstanding Media-Persons, Award for Outstanding Environmentalists and Award for outstanding Industrial Entrepreneurship.
As per the scheme, the nominations for granting State Awards are to be made by Social Organizations, Sports Bodies, NGOs, Universities, J&K Academy of Art, Culture and Languages, Administrative Secretaries in relation to awards for Meritorious Public Service, Divisional Commissioners and Deputy Commissioners.
