Tral : The residents of Mandoora village in Tral area of Southern Kashmir’s Pulwama district are up in arms against the concerned authorities for failing to construct a bridge over local Nallah.
Talking to INS, the locals said that wooden plank placed on the Nallah continues to pose a threat for people, particularly the children as it may collapse anytime.
“In absence of bridge, immense hardships are caused to the inhabitants, especially school going children, living on the either sides of the Nallah,” they said, adding that, in absence of the bridge, residents including children, women and elderly people are forced to walk over this dilapidated wooden plank.”
They said that lack of bridge not only pose threat to humans but their livestock.
“We are more concerned about the safety of our children who use wooden planks daily to reach their educational institution, which is located very far from village, on the other side of Nallah,” Abdul Gani Bhat, a local, said.
He said that authorities failed to construct the bridge and repair the road despite availability of different schemes like MGNREGA and PMGSY ‘as road leading towards the area is also dilapidated with no intervention from anyone’
“At the time of rainy season, the water level raises and touches the wooden plank which creates problem for the pedestrians” Bhat added.
The locals demanded a permanent bridge over the nallah to mitigate the problems being faced by the people.
