Srinagar: A Court in Baderwah has issued an arrest warrant to Hurriyat (G) Syed Ali Geelani in a case that has been going on in the court since 1989.
Hurriyat (G) spokesman, Ayaz Akbar told KNS that Geelani had given a speech in Baderwah in 1989 and then the police had filed an FIR No. 169/89 against him.
“Today, a police party from Baderwah had arrived to the residence of the Chairman and served the arrest warrant before him. And, the Chairman told them that he has no hesitation in being arrested,” Akbar told KNS.
He said that the police party did not arrest him but informed that they will talk to their higher authorities.
Lashing out at the government, the Hurriyat (G) spokesman said that the arrest warrant is a mockery of the court as Geelani was “already under house arrest from the last seven years”.
He said that the Jammu and Kashmir is a “police state” where courts are being “dictated” by the government. (KNS)
