Bandipora: Three more militants were killed in the encounter at Sumlar forests of north Kashmir’s Bandipora district, taking the death toll of militants to five.
Army’s spokesperson said that three more militants were killed in the operation on Friday and bodies of all of them along with weapons have been recovered.
Regarding the identity and the group affiliation of the slain militants, the army spokesperson said that it was being ascertained.
A police spokesperson said the killed militants were affiliated with Lashker-e-Toiba. “Apparently they were part of freshly infiltrated group,” the spokesperson said, adding, ““Huge quantity of arms, ammunition and incriminating material was recovered from the site of encounter.”
Police has registered a case and investigation is going on, the spokesperson added.
The gunfight broke out yesterday after Army’s 14 RR, Police’s SOG and the CRPF launched a joint cordon-and-search operation in the woods.
