Shopian: Suspected militants abducted two special police officers (SPOs) and a policeman from two villages of Shopian in south Kashmir in wee hours on Friday. The militants also abducted relative of the policeman but released him later.
Reports reaching INS said that militants abducted Firdous Ahmad Kuchey (SPO) son of Addul Gani and Kuldeep Singh (SPO) son of Doop Singh, both residents of Batgund Shopian.
The militants, reports said, also abducted Nisar Ahmad Dhobi, a police constable, son of Abdul Rashid and Fayaz Ahmad Bhat, Dhobi’s relative, son of Abdul Ahad Bhat at Kapran Shopian. The abductions come at time when militants have asked the SOPs and the policemen to give up their jobs and opt for other means of livelihood. Police sources said investigations have been launched and efforts are being made to find out the abducted SPOs and the policeman.
