September: Police on Tuesday claimed to have killed two militants after they fired upon them during search operations in Galoora area of Langate in Handwara.

Police spokesman said that during preceding night, police and other forces jointly launched search operation based on credible inputs about the presence of militants in the area.

During the searches, militants fired on the search party, ‘which was retaliated leading to an encounter.’

In the ensuing encounter two militants were killed whose identity is being ascertained.

“Arms and ammunition was also recovered from the site of encounter. Search in the area is going on,” police spokesman said.

Police has registered a case in this regard and the investigation has been initiated in the instant matter
