Srinagar: The Jammu and Kashmir government  has appointed a new inquiry officer to enquire into the use of 2.635 hectares of forest land for construction of a road in Reasi Forest Division by the officers and officials of PMGSY in violation of the J&K Forest (Conservation) Act, 1997.

The new inquiry officer, Rohit Kansal (IAS), Principal Secretary to the Government, Planning, Development & Monitoring Department, has been asked to submit a report within a month.

“In partial modification of Government Order No.528- GAD of 2018 dated 27.03.2018, sanction is hereby accorded to the appointment of Rohit Kansal as Inquiry Officer in place of Kifayat Hussain Rizvi, (Retd.)IAS, the then Commissioner/Secretary to Government, Labour & Employment Department to enquire into the use of 2.635 hectares of forest land for construction of road from Km 15 to Narla in Reasi Forest Division by the officers/officials of PMGSY in violation of the J&K Forest (Conservation) Act,1997,” reads an order issued by the government here. “The Inquiry Officer shall submit his report within a period of one month from the date of issuance of this order.” The Forest, Environment & Ecology Department shall provide all the requisite records and assistance to the Inquiry Officer, the order added.
