Kupwara: An unidentified militant was killed in an ongoing encounter at Handwara area of north Kashmir’s Kupwara district.

An official said that a joint team of army’s 21 RR, Special Operations Group of Jammu and Kashmir Police and Central Reserve Police Force 92 Bn launched a search operation in Sodal check Magam forest area.

He said that the gunfight broke out following the joint team of forces intensified searches in the area.

One militant has been killed in the gunfight so far, an official said.

The operation is underway, the official said.
