Police solves three burglary cases, one of them in one hour

Srinagar: Three persons allegedly involved in theft and burglary cases were arrested and stolen property worth lakhs of rupees from their possession, a police spokesman said on Saturday.

Based on a written complaint from Manzoor Ahmad Wani son of Ghulam Qadir of Batshah Mohalla Lalbazar that he parked his vehicle (DL10CA 3854) opposite Rung-hamam Nowhatta and pashmina shawls worth Rs 3,50,000 were kept inside the vehicle. After locking the car completely he proceeded to nearby Masjid for offering Asar prayers. On his return, he found pashmina shawls missing from his vehicle.

A case FIR No 20/2018 under section 379 RPC was registered in Police Station Nowhatta and investigation was set into motion, the spokesman said.

“A police team led by SHO Nowhatta Wasim Ahmad cracked the case within an hour by arresting the accused person identified as Ubaid Farooq Rather son of Farooq Ahmad of Tabtien Colony Eidgah Srinagar and recovered the stolen property from his possession.”

Further investigation of the case is going on and more arrests are expected in this case, the spokesman added.

Also the investigations into case FIR number 17/2018 under section 457, 380 RPC registered at Police Station Nowhatta led to the arrest of a burglar namely Amir Altaf Zargar son of Mohammad Altaf Zargar resident of Bakur Alastang and gold worth Rs one was recovered.

Another burglary case FIR No 21/2018 under section 457, 380 RPC was solved by Srinagar police after it arrested the accused burglar identified as Basit Ahmad Bhat son of Mohammad Abdullah Bhat resident of Natipora at present Fateh Kadal Srinagar. Stolen items including LED, cash 40,000 and other articles were recovered from his possession.
