Baramulla: ‘For almost ten minutes its rained like stones,’ people say as hail storm wreaked havoc in many villages including main town Baramulla, Rafiabad, kanispora, Chandoosa other areas of Baramulla and Sopore district on Tuesday
Strong hailstrom caused huge damage to crops and vegetable in north Kashmir Varmul district , leaving farmers in distress over expected losses.
The orchardists  in the district told INS that the brief hailstorm caused damage to crops like apple, vegetables and other fruits.
“This year, we expected a good crop as our orchards seemed to be abundant in apples, but the hail storms have not only dashed our hopes, but also left the farmers in desperation,” said Tawseef Ahmad  a fruit businessman , a resident of Baramulla
Meanwhile Farmers have appealed the authorities to compensate the loss.
It is pertinent to mention that On May 06 and and 11 April  heavy wind storm and hail storm damages corps in Baramulla and surroundings areas.
