Four Quintals of banned medicinal herbs seized in Bandipora

Bandipora: Forest officials and Bandipora Police in a Joint operation on Friday  have seized Four Quintals of banned medicinal herb.

An official said that they had some information about banned medicinal being transported in eight separate vehicles from Gurez, in order to nab the culprits, they laid Nakka Jointly with police near Pethkot area. The herb is an endangered one and is locally known as “SHEETKAAR” and its trade is banned, he said.

On search of such Vehicles, banned Medicinal plants extract was found.
All eight different Vehicles were seized on the spot and all 18 persons were arrested in this regard. He said that total Four quintals banned medicinal herb were recovered from eight vehicles as each vehicle.

Meanwhile Bandipora Police during Press Conference here on today said that we have arrested 18 accused persons besides all 8 vehicles were also seized in this Regard. We have also registered 04 FIRs  02 each in Police Station Bandipora (FIR No.77/2018 u/s 379 RPC , 06 F.Act and FIR No.78/2018 u/s 379 RPC , 06 F.Act) and Police Station Pethkote (FIR No.06/2018 u/s 379 RPC , 06 F.Act and FIR No.07/2018 u/s 379 RPC , 06 F.Act) SSP Bandipora Sheikh Zulfikar Azad said.
